McCann to 10-day IL, Jackson recalled
ATLANTA -- Catcher Alex Jackson has been recalled from AAA Gwinnett to Atlanta while catcher Brian McCann has landed on the 10-day injured list, the club announced Wednesday.
McCann left Tuesday's game against Miami with knee discomfort and Mark Bowman of Braves.com reports he expects to miss "just a couple of weeks."
Jackson, 23, appeared in three games for Atlanta this past April. He went 0-10 with a walk and three strikeouts.
In 81 games with the Stripers this season, Jackson is hitting .224 with 25 home runs and 57 RBIs and a .821 OPS.
With Jackson and Tyler Flowers both on Atlanta's roster, the team has two right-handed batting catchers. In 2019, McCann has typically started for Atlanta against right-handed starters while Flowers has spelled him when lefties take the mound.
The Braves and Marlins clash Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7:20 p.m.
